The PLO\'s Department of International Relations on Thursday denounced the decision of UNESCO, (United Nations for Education, Science and Culture), to name Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, and to put it on the World Heritage List, calling it \"biased to Israel\". In a statement issued by the Department, they said that \"UNESCO’s\" definition of Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, \"constitutes a violation of international law and humanity, and all resolutions published by the Security Council”, adding that: “East Jerusalem is an occupied city.\" The PLO Department demanded that the UN agency must reverse its decision, on account of its large and dangerous violation of international resolutions in this regard. It warned: \"These (Security Council) resolutions recognize that East Jerusalem is occupied territory by all applicable procedures and international and humanitarian conventions, and that it is part and parcel of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.\" The Department of International Relations considered that: \"What UNESCO has done is flagrantly biased towards the policy of the Israeli government, and gives legitimacy to practices in occupied Jerusalem, such as Judaizing operations, and forced displacement of the rightful inhabitants, bringing settlers in to take their place.\" The statement called on all international actors, especially the United Nations, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Conference, to address this dangerous decision, as according to them it affects the Palestinians’ historical and religious rights, and provokes the feelings of millions of Muslims and Christians across the globe.
