35 prisoners managedto escape on Thursday from the prison following police headquarters inEastern Mosul. Police imposed a curfew throughout the city. A police source said to ArabsToday that: ‘35 prisoners have managed to escape from the prison in Eastern Mosul,’ confirming that security forces have managed to arrest 20 of them, while continuing to find the rest. On the other hand, the Committee confirmed that the prisoners have escaped through a tunnel they were able to dig from inside the prison to the outside, indicating that the fugitives are wanted on charges of terrorism. The province of Nineveh, especially its centre city Mosul, is one of the hot spots, according to a security assessment of the Iraqi government and U.S. military.
