Kazakh Foreign Minister, Khairat Abdurrahmanov, said Tuesday that preparations for 6th round of Astana negotiations on the Syrian crisis are continuing. He explained in a press statement that the negotiations' agenda will be determined within the framework of a meeting, between the guarantors' states of "Astana Operation" (Russia, Turkey and Iran), is currently held in Tehran.
The Kazakh foreign minister denied any change in the timing of the new round of negotiations, adding that it is expected to be held in late August.
The 5th round of the Astana negotiations, which took place on 4-5 July, culminated in a preliminary agreement that included the establishment of four zones to ease tension in Syria.
These discussions took place with the participation of the delegations of Syrian regime, the Syrian opposition, the delegations of the guarantor States and the Special Envoy to Syria, Stefan de Mistura, as well as the representatives of Jordan and the United States as observer states in the negotiations.
