Israeli newspaper Maariv reports on its website that Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, has invited the Israeli President Shimon Peres, to meet him in Cairo in August. According to the website, the Egyptian president wrote on his Twitter account that he sent a message to the Israeli President Peres and Prime Minister Netanyahu in which he stressed Cairo’s commitment to peace agreements between the two sides, and his willingness for joint cooperation in the future. The Maariv website pointed out that both the offices of Peres and Netanyahu have denied receiving any formal invitations or messages from the Egyptian president \"apart from what Morsi has written via Twitter\". The Israeli website Inyan Merkazi recently announced that Benjamin Netanyahu had complained to the White House that the Egyptian president had snubbed him by not responding to his calls, adding that US President Barack Obama tried to pressure Morsi to respond Netanyahu. \"Obama took advantage of his advisors to persuade Morsi to continue to work with the agreements signed by Egypt, including the peace treaty with Israel, as stated before and after the elections, adding that the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr Mohammed Morsi, refuses to meet Netanyahu, and also rejects all attempts at mediation and pressures exerted to make even a brief phone call to Netanyahu.\" The website continued: \"Netanyahu asked to meet Morsi in either Sharm el-Sheikh or Cairo as he used to do with the former President Hosni Mubarak,\" adding that President Morsi\'s aids responded to the US officials’ request that Morsi entertains talks with Netanyahu \"only after the visit of President Barack Obama to Israel.\" The Egyptian president has stated that Egypt\'s relations with Israel will continue through military channels led by Field Marshal Tantawi, who is still acting as president with regards to security and Egypt\'s foreign relations.
