Gunmen released their hostages after negotiations with Darfur government officials. One of the hostages was Sport and Youth Minister Hussein Abdurrahman. Head of the Darfur Liberation and Justice Movement Tigani el-Sissi said in a press conference that \"the militants spread chaos for several months. \"We were heading toward a real catastrophe if we hadn\'t introduced those negotiations between officials and the militant group. The negotiation resulted in the release of the hostages. \"these groups are disturbing peace and the stability process Darfur is going through after we signed the peace agreement last year. Sissi revealed that the government followed the militants\' activities with security systems. He urged again his citizens not to carry weapons in the cities and said they should only be available for military troops in order to make cities safer. An official source said \" the leader of the militants had recently joined the Liberation and Justice Movement. He did so after he got refused a position in the regional authority.\" The name of the leader was not revealed. North Darfur Governor Osman Kibir who played the mediation role in the accident said \"it\'s not acceptable\". \"We have to revive the campaign of collecting weapons from the region in order to stop militant attacks\".
