Egypt\'s ex-President Hosni Mubarak\'s heart did not stop beating, although he suffered heart problems and a slight increase in blood pressure, state-run Al-Ahram newspaper reported Monday. A medical source from the International Medical Center where Mubarak is being jailed and treated, said Mubarak had undergone a medical checkup Friday and the results showed he suffered atrial fibrillation, namely irregular and rapid beating of the heart\'s atrial chambers, the report said. The source denied earlier reports that Mubarak was admitted to the intensive care unit after his heart stopped beating for a few seconds. On Saturday, the Al-Wafd newspaper\'s website posted a report which claimed Mubarak died. But on Sunday, the website posted a corrected version, saying Mubarak was still alive and well. The 83-year-old man was forced to resign and end his 30-year- long rule in February after 18 days of anti-government protests. He is believed to have been in the medical center in the eastern outskirts of Egypt\'s capital of Cairo, since his trial began in early August.
