Mauritanian newspaper El-Elm reported that former Libyan Intelligence Chief Abdullah Sanusi was taken ill following his arrest by the Mauritanian government in the capital Nouakchott. Sanusi was transferred to the military hospital in the city following a sudden heart attack, according to the newspaper. Sources said Sanusi has been suffering serious diseases, including cancer and his state of health had deteriorated over the past month due to the interruption of his treatment. The Mauritanian authorities announced earlier on Friday that they arrested the former Libyan Intelligence Chief, Abdullah Sanusi, at Nouakchott International Airport on his way from Casablanca in Morocco, in the possession of a forged Malian passport, while Moroccan officials denied Sanusi had been in the country.
