The Promised Day Brigade of the Mahdi Army carried out five more Katyusha rocket operations against the U.S. forces on Wednesday in a number of Iraqi provinces. They have reported that these operations resulted in casualties among American soldiers, and have vowed to continue armed action until the U.S. troops leave the country. A statement issued by The Promised Day Brigade today, claimed that elements of the Brigade “carried out ongoing bombing and explosives operations with Katyusha rockets that targeted U.S. army convoys and bases in the Baghdad provinces of Dhi Qar, Wasit, Maysan, and the road between Najaf and Diwaniyah during the period between the 18th and 24th July." The statement continued by saying that "such operations resulted in casualties among American soldiers" and that the Brigade vowed to "continue its jihad until the last soldier of the occupying forces is defeated in Iraq." The Promised Day Brigade, which is the military wing of the Mahdi Army headed by the cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, has organized a parade to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain on the 10th of Muharram.
