The Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East (LFPME) will run a marathon on Thursday in Gaza to raise funds for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Summer Games for children. The two LFPME members Komal and Del will be running respectively for 10 and 42km, the full length of the Gaza Strip. According to the UNRWA’s website, along the marathon’s route, nearly 2,000 children, including children with special needs, will run relays, while adults, from professional Gazan athletes training for the Olympics to amateur runners, will run the full marathon. This is a chance for Gaza residents, refugees, students and supporters alike to come together and participate in a unique event organised to support Summer Games., UNRWA’s website said. Donations for the event can also be made online to LFPME.
