Communications channels have been put in place to contain the situation after a Lebanese military patrol was shot at from the Syrian side of the Lebanese-Syrian borders on Saturday night. The incident left no casualties. A Lebanese military patrol consisting of five vehicles was doing a routine tour in the border village of al-Baqiaa, when it was targeted with gunfire from the Syrian side of the border where some Syrian military units are placed. The Lebanese patrol did not return fire.. Lebanese sources told Arabstoday that the patrol will resume its duties on Sunday afternoon, after it was halted in the morning, after the Lebanese army received guarantees from its Syrian counterparts that the incident would not be repeated.
