Tunisia's Ennahda party stated on its website that Hamas' Prime Minister of Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh who is currently visiting Tunisia will meet French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé during his two –day visit. Political analysts say that this upcoming meeting would contribute to bringing about a consensual position with the French government and Hamas after signing the reconciliation with Fatah to form a new government. In addition, this meeting is expected to clarify France’s official position on the Palestinian reconciliation to end the division between the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It’s worth mentioning that French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé announced during his visit to Tunisia on April that France is willing to “conditional openness” with Moderate Islamists, saying “the world is changing and France has to keep pace with these changes, especially in the Arab World or even in other countries such as Afghanistan.” Haniyeh’s visit to Tunisia raised controversy, about his invitation, while Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied inviting him, Ennahda party confirmed that the government will host Ismail Haniyeh and will meet Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali’s
