Hamas official Ismail Radwan confirmed tht Fatah and Hamas have reached an agreement regarding carrying out Palestinian elections in Jerusalem, as it was Palestine’s the most important city. Radwan explained in a media statement on Thursday that it was unreasonable to carry out the elections in all Palestinian cities, except Jerusalem. About the possibility of rigged elections in Jerusalem by Israel, Radwan said that Hamas expected any possibility, and that Palestinian factions would discuss how to overcome potential problems. Hamas’s spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated: “Hamas doesn’t have any preconditions to implementing the reconciliation…Palestinians have a right to carry out elections in Jerusalem.” He added: “Israel is trying to thwart the reconciliation…Israel will fail in doing that now, as it failed in 2006.” He also stated that Hamas was ready for the elections and wasn’t worried about the results.
