The Palestinian Liberation Organization PLO Executive Committee Member, Nabil Shaath expressed on Monday confidence in the current course of the Palestinian reconciliation process and the results of the meeting between Fatah and Hamas. He said, in a press release that the meeting between Hamas and Fatah chaired by Hamas\' leader, Ismail Haniyeh, and the PLO\'s Executive Committee Member, Zakaria Al-Agha, was “fruitful and successful on all levels”. Shaath praised Hamas persistence to achieve the reconciliation, especially re-opening the headquarters of the central elections commission in Gaza to prepare for the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, he described the phone conversation between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas’s leader Khaled Mashaal as “positive” expressing his hope that Palestinians will see soon the implementation of the Palestinian reconciliation. He also stressed that Fatah intends to overcome obstacles hampering the reconciliation to end the Palestinian division, pointing out to his visit to Gaza as a successful and assured Fatah’s positive situation towards the reconciliation. Regarding the Israeli-Palestinian talks in Amman, Shaath said that Israeli failed to meet the minimum Palestinian demands, stressing that the Palestinian Authority agreed to resume talks with Israel after halting its settlement activities in the West Bank.
