The leader of Fatah, Azzam al-Ahmad, has said that it had been agreed with Hamas that the Central Elections Commission would start its work on May 27, which is the same day when the consultations will start for the formation of a new government. This will be announced 10 days later, in a meeting between president Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas political bureau head, Khaled Meshaal. Al-Ahmad, said in press statement: “It has been agreed that the period of the new government, which will be headed by Abbas according to the Doha Declaration, will be six months. After this period, the presidential, legislative and national council elections will take place.” He also added that all commissions will resume their work during the coming period.
