Fatah senior official Abbas Zaki said on Tuesday that Hamas and Fatah succeeded to share the same view on rebuilding the Palestinian unity within the frame of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO). \"Palestinians have much paid for peace and it is the time now to help them and the Arab nation realise their aspirations,\" Zaki told during a news conference held on Tuesday at the Palestinian embassy in Beirut. Zaki headed a delegation of Fatah and visited a number of top Lebanese officials, in an effort to clarify the Palestinian position on the ongoing changes and developments, after the peace process had been stalling for a while. About restoring order in the troubled Palestinian domestic scene, mainly by working on the reconciliation process, the Palestinian high-ranking official said that the resistance must be pricey its enemy. \"Using resistance should aim at two things: it should be useful and not destructive, and it should be concrete,\" he said. He also said that Hamas is now participating in a political resolution and that the Islamic movement shared Fatah\'s same beliefs. Regarding the Syrian crisis, Zaki hoped the country would overcome the 11-month crisis. He added that 750,000 Palestinians live in Syria, stressing that their interest is connected to Syrian stability and security. The Fatah delegation met on Tuesday the Syrian Social Nationalist Party leader, MP Assaad Hardane, to discuss Palestinian developments. “It is important for all parties that believe in resistance against Israel to unite,” Hardane said. The Syrian MP also called on Palestinian factions to come together, as “such unity will thwart Israeli schemes.”
