The global charity initiatives of Kuwait's Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs were commended by Egypt's former Al-Azhar University President, Dr. Ahmad Omar Hashem on Wednesday. After meeting the Kuwaiti Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Minister and State Minister for Housing Affairs, Mohammad Al-Noumas, Hashem said that the minister expressed keenness towards supporting Islamic missionary activities. He said this support from Kuwait was not an uncommon practice, and that the country has a proven record in these initiatives, building numerous religious institutes, mosques, hospitals and water wells in impoverished countries across the world. Debates and sermons have a positive role in reminding Muslims of the good actions of past Islamic icons, and give them valuable lessons they can live by today, he added. For his part, the minister said that Kuwait and Egypt were united by vision and goals, noting that the coming period would witness the ministry stepping up its missionary efforts.
