Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, today issued a directive to the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications regarding a project to upgrade the air navigation system and instrument landing system (ILS) at Bahrain International Airport. The Deputy King’s initiative, which will in future see Bahrain International Airport using the world’s latest landing technology, aims to improve standards and the flow of air traffic at the airport.
Speaking about the Deputy King’s directives, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, said the project will be completed before the end of 2018 and falls in line with the national development vision of His Majesty the King, which includes maintaining the Kingdom’s status in the aviation sector.
The Transport Minister added that the project will significantly improve navigation and instrument landing services during times of low visibility, contributing to reduced flight delays and diversions, and improvements to the overall service offered from Bahrain International Airport.
