Sudanese defence minister Abdul Rahim Mohammed Hussein has said Sudan is keen establish regional security with the help of Libya, especially in the field of military training. In a meeting with the chief-of-staff of the Libyan air force, Sakr Hamad Jeroshi, in Khartoum on Monday, he said Sudan had \"benefitted from the Libyan revolution\". He stated: \"We take advantage of the success of the Libyan revolution. The achievement of its objectives makes Darfur secure and stable. We had suffered from [ousted leader Muammar] Gaddafi’s regime before, so the victory of the Libyan revolution is a victory for the Sudanese people, free will as well as the Arab and Muslim nations.” The Sudanese minister expressed his happiness that Libyan rebels were in Khartoum, referring to directives issued by president Omar al-Bashir to back the Libyan armed forces and communicate with them in order to support stability in Libya. Libya\'s Jeroshi expressed in a statement his appreciation for Sudan in supporting the Libyan revolution, citing the support of president Bashir. Jeroshi claimed Gaddafi had supported the armed movements in order to destabilise Sudan. He added: “The fall of the Gaddafi regime means the stability of Darfur...all cases against Sudan will be cancelled.” Jeroshi also congratulated the Sudanese troops on restoring control of the Heglig oil region from the grip of South Sudan in April 20. Libyan general Youssef Ahmed Mangush praised Sudan\'s efforts to support the revolution of February 17. During his visit to Khartoum last March he stressed on the need to tighten security control on the border between Sudan and Chad, adding : \"We are confident that Sudan will always give more than we ask for.”
