According to Syrian opposition sources, the International Coalition deployed a ground force in “Al-Tanf” military base east of Syria to fight terrorism, and that the American-British-Norwegian force is conducting special operation against “Daesh” before it focuses on “Al-Tanf” camp. The sources believe that the activation of the role of this force threatens the Syrian regime efforts to reach Al-Tanf border crossing with Iraq, in order to open the Damascus-Baghdad road, and later the Tehran-Damascus line.
One week before the summit in Brussels, NATO Chiefs of Staff recommended cooperation with the International Coalition against “Daesh”. Head of NATO military committee, Peter Pavel said that, the decision about joining forces with the International Coalition must be discussed during heads of states’ meeting on May 25 in Brussels. He added that, the committee discussed this matter and they recommend that, NATO should be a member in this coalition.
