A source in the Iraqi police stated on Monday that five including Spokesman of the Kurdistan Alliance Moayed Al-Tayeb were killed in the detonation of an explosive-packed vehicle near the entrance to the Iraqi Parliament in the Green Zone. Source told ‘Arabstoday’ that “a person who still remains unidentified killed and wounded at least four more in the detonation of an explosive-packed vehicle near the entrance of the Iraqi Parliament in the Green Zone in the center of Baghdad” saying that “Spokesman of Kurdistan Alliance, Moayed Al-Tayeb, is among the injured.” The bureau of Osama Najafi, head of Iraqi Council of Representatives, stated on Monday that the explosion that took place in the Green Zone was a suicide-attempt to assassinate Najafi. Najafi’s advisor, Aydan Helmi, told ‘Arabstoday’: “The blast in the Green Zone was an attempt to assassinate the head of Parliament Osama Najafi... Najafi was about to leave his office and the car driven by the suicide bomber was a black GMC, the same type and color driven by his entourage.\" Helmi added: “The suicide bomber tried to the join Najafi’s convoy, but the Green Zone guards were suspicious and stopped him, which forced him to change his plans to hit a high sidewalk and blow up the car.” Kurdistan Alliance MP Mahma Khalil confirmed to ‘Arabstoday’ that the “explosion was by a black GMC driven by a suicide bombers” verifying that “spokesman of the Kurdistan Alliance Moayed Al-Tayeb sustained limb injuries and was admitted to the health center in the Green Zone, leaving it not long ago.” The blast is considered one of a kind to take place inside the Green Zone, for more than four years, which indicates a serious setback in security especially with the imminent withdrawal of US troops. People fear that the Iraqi Security Forces are unable to take charge of preserving the country\'s safety.
