Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Alistair Burt, Minister of State for International Development and for the Middle East at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, have discussed cooperation relations between the two countries.
According to the Bahrain News Agency, BNA, Sheikh Khalid noted the depth of the close historical relations linking Bahrain and the UK on various levels, saying that bilateral ties will make further progress towards broader prospects in light of the keenness of the leadership of the two countries to broaden cooperation and continue consultation and coordination on all issues.
Shaikh Khalid praised the key role played by the United Kingdom in the fight against terrorism in all its forms, in cooperation with the states of the region, for the sake of world peace and stability.
Burt noted that the United Kingdom was keen to further its relations with Bahrain in multiple areas and to work together to underpin peace and security in the region.
Their talks coincided with a meeting of the Joint Bahraini-British Working Group, under the co-chairmanship of Shaikh Khalid and Burt, during which the two sides reviewed bilateral ties and ways to strengthen them at all levels, BNA reported.
Participants in the meeting also discussed key regional and international issues and developments.
