According to a statement published by the Ministry of Defense, the Algerian Army killed 10 extremists last May, arrested 4 others, arrested 3 more elements supporting extremist groups, destroyed 35 locations filled with weapons, retrieved a 12.7 mm submachine gun, an RPK machine gun, a hunting rifle, 25 Kalashnikovs, a heavy FMPK machinegun, 4 Simonov, a 36-MAS rifle, a repeat gun and four automatic pistols.
The Algerian Army revealed 5 mines and equipment used to manufacture them, and a kiln of explosives manufacturing materials. It also recovered 26 conventional bombs, 14 ammunition stores and a significant quantity of ammunition. The Army last operation to eliminate extremists after the armed attack on a patrol of the National Gendarmerie in Wad Gomaa of Al Balida province, was in the high mountains of Al Balida province, west of Algeria.
After this attack, the army increased the security alarm, and strengthened its troops in mountains near Al Al Balida to eliminate the rest of the extremist organizations that belong to Al-Qaeda in Morocco and “Daesh” organization.
