West Darfur governor, Jaafar Abdel-Hakam, said that the security and humanitarian situation in West Darfur is under control, warning the armed movements which have not yet started a dialogue with the government to take any action that would threaten security and stability. Abdel Hakam has also called after visiting a number of areas that were previously under the control of the insurgency to pursue dialogue as a means to express their demands. He also said that the rate of development and rehabilitation projects is getting better. A security source in West Darfur confirmed that ‘Justice and Equality’ Movement, led by Khalil Ibrahim, is no longer able to do anything after the infiltration of security and government presence in the Jebel Moon area. Sources also said that the incidents which take place in some areas from time to time are limited to just looting and thefts at the individual level.
