A Russian court handed jail sentences to two men in a 2010 terrorist attack in Vladikavkaz that killed 19 people, prosecutors said. The North Ossetia Supreme Court sentenced Ali Daurbekov to 24 years in prison and gave a 16-year sentence to Vakha Khashagulgov, RIA Novosti reported Thursday. The two were accused of playing a role in organizing a suicide bombing at the entrance to a central market in the North Ossetian capital. In addition to the 19 victims, some 230 people were injured by the blast. Terrorist attacks targeting security forces and officials are common in the North Caucasus republics of Ingushetia, Dagestan and Chechnya but North Ossetia has generally been spared the worst violence. The Russian government has vowed to clamp down on militant groups operating in the North Caucasus.e t
