Who\'s in it? Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Thomas Horn, Viola Davis, Max von Sydow The plot Despite being nominated for a Best Picture Oscar in a very strong year, this film adaptation of the widely acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer has divided critics. It tells the story of young boy, Oskar Schell (Horn), who lives in NYC with his dad Thomas (Tom Hanks) and mum Linda (Bullock), and how when Oskar’s dad tragically dies in the September 11 attacks he finds a mysterious key in his closet and sets out on a journey throughout New York to find the lock that matches it. To tell you much more would be a bit of a spoiler alert – but we can say the boy, who suffers from a form of Asperger’s Syndrome, comes across an amazing array of people, and the ultimate feeling is one of hope and human goodness coming through in times of darkness and grief.
