In his debut in Sharjah, Iraqi superstar Kadim Al Saher will perform live at Al Majaz Amphitheatre at the inaugural concert of the 2nd Sharjah World Music Festival which will start at 10:00 pm on Friday, January 16.
Presented by Sharjah Investment Development Authority (Shurooq), and organised by Furat Qaddouri Music Center, the Sharjah World Music Festival will feature a starred line-up of vocalists and ensembles from 13 Arab and foreign countries, including Syrian singer Lena Chamamyan and Lebanese singer Oumeima El Khalil.
Topping the bill in the 10-day festival, Kadim Al Saher expressed his delight of the participation in Sharjah World Music Festival, and considered his visit to Sharjah a great opportunity to see the Emirate and meet his fans. He added that he had performed in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and that it was high time to perform for the music lovers in the emirate of Sharjah.
Al Saher added: “Sharjah has always been known for paying attention to culture and art through organising festivals and fairs for diverse genres of art and literature. I am thrilled to perform at the inaugural concert of the 2nd Sharjah World Music Festival, which has garnered local and regional attention in a short span of time since its inception.”
Furat Qaddouri, Coordinator of Sharjah World Music Festival and Founder of Furat Qaddouri Music Centre, said: “Kadim Al Saher is one of the greatest Iraqi and Arab vocalists who have earned a wide reputation in the world. His voice expresses nostalgia, longing for the homeland and for the beloved by singing the lyrics of the top Arab poets. Kadim has a proven track record of success, and welcoming him for the first time in Sharjah will be a gala event expected to draw a huge number of audience who are eager to listen to this creative singer”.

Al Shuweihi added; "The festival is part of Shurooq’s strategy in hosting major events to boost Sharjah's role in promoting Tourism, in close collaboration with Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, particularly in the light of the Sharjah celebration of being selected as capital of Arab tourism next year, the festival will contribute in positioning Sharjah among global capitals and cities that host and organize prestigious music festivals and event. In this festival, Shurooq focused on the high-end music performed by elite musicians from the Arab region and beyond.
Since his first solo “Ya Ward Al Ishiq” was released in 1981, Kadim Al Saher has established himself as one of the most successful and celebrated Arabic singers. With 24 albums in his repertoire over three decades, he has performed at hundreds of concerts in the Arab region and the entire world, received awards and accolades from top Arab and international festivals, and sang lyrics by the best Arab poets, including Nizar Qabbani, Karim Al Iraqi, Manea Saeed Al Ottaibah and Farouq Jwaidah.

The first edition of Sharjah World Music Festival was at Al Qasba in Sharjah in the beginning of 2014, presented by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), organised by Furat Qaddouri Music Centre. As a result of the resounding success and increasing public attention, it was decided to expand the festival into various venues in the emirate of Sharjah.
By hosting the festival, Shurooq seeks to boost the cultural and art presence of Sharjah and the UAE, introduce the UAE community to various musical cultures from around the world, and add a new product to the Emirate’s repertoire of tourist, art, and cultural attractions.
