Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Margaret Chan stressed here on Tuesday that Kuwait's diction to host the third donors' conference for Syrians reflects its leading and humanitarian role across the globe.
During a meeting with Kuwait's permanent delegate to the UN Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim, Chan commended great contributions by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to carrying out WHO's activities and pragmas.
Kuwait was a leading country that supported efforts aimed at combating the spread of Ebola virus in West Africa, she said, adding she looks forward to meeting His Highness the Amir during the conference to express her gratitude to him for these contributions.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Ghunaim underlined Kuwaiti's keenness on promoting cooperation with the WHO in all domains; especially as the country has become a WHO Executive Board member.
Kuwait decided to host the conference as it believes in the value of humanitarian action and its role in supporting the Syrian people and neighboring countries, he told KUNA.
