The Ministry of Health and Prevention reaffirmed that the medicine called ‘Flumox’ is not available in the UAE, and warned travellers about the risks of bringing it into the country.
The ministry also warned all segments of society about sharing health videos, particularly those related to medications. The ministry noted that a video dating back to 2015 was being shared regarding a broad-spectrum antibiotic named Flumox (250g and 500g), a medicine produced by Egypt’s EIPICO. The ministry said that it is not allowed for people to share these videos because it creates fear, and gives the wrong impression about the country of origin and the manufacturing company, which is considered one of the best in Egypt.
Dr Ameen Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing at the ministry, said Flumox is not registered for sale in the UAE.
Al Amiri urged the public not to spread any information related to health that was not issued by the ministry or official health authorities, and to call the ministry on the toll-free line 80011111 for any enquiries
