A third batch of employees at the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, SCHS, completed a special training programme on using music therapy to help people with disabilities.
Organised by the SCHS' Special Arts Group and Training Unit, in collaboration with specialists from United States-based Iowa University, the programme does not aim to teach music. Its goals are deeper, where music is used to rehabilitate and train people with disabilities.
In the programme, musicians played for children with disabilities to encourage them to interact, socialise and enhance their social and cognitive capabilities.
To date, 44 employees received the training as part of the programme launched in January 2017.
