Health Minister Sadiq Abdulkareem Al-Shehabi received here today the Bahrain Psychiatric Patients Friendship Society’s Chairperson and members, in the presence of Hospitals’ Affairs Undersecretary Waleed Al Manea, and the Psychiatric Hospital Chairperson Dr.Adel Al-Owfi.
Al-Shehabi affirmed the Health Ministry’s interest in upgrading all services provided for patients, praising the role of the Bahrain Psychiatric Patients Friendship Society in promoting awareness on psychological and social health and consolidating the concepts of mental health and the rights of psychiatric patients.
The Bahrain Psychiatric Patients Friendship Society Chairperson Lulwa Hassan Abul highlighted the Society’s role in provided the needed support for psychiatric patients and their relatives in order to facilitate their social integration.
Hospitals’ Affairs Undersecretary Waleed Al Manea expressed pride in the Society’s role, affirming that the Health Ministry’s strategy aims to improve the quality of services provided for psychiatric patients.
Psychiatric Hospital Chairperson Dr.Adel Al-Owfi welcomed enhancing cooperation with Society, asserting the Kingdom’s leading status in providing care for psychiatric patients, noting that well-equipped psychiatric clinics will be set up in health centres across the kingdom to ensure patients’ easy access to services.
The Minister called for the need to hold regular coordination meetings between the the Psychiatric Hospital’s officials and the Society’s members in order to unify efforts and overcome potential obstacles.
