South Africa's Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu will remain in hospital after a minor surgery, his daughter said on Saturday.
Tutu will receive further observation in the hospital in Cape Town, Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu said.
Mpho Tutu said his father is suffering from an infection caused by past treatment he received for prostate cancer.
Tutu's medical team was satisfied with the progress of his antibiotic treatment, according to the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.
But the doctors said Tutu's prostate cancer remains dormant.
Tutu, 83, was re-admitted to the hospital on Tuesday one week after he was discharged.
He has fought for the past 18 years against prostate cancer, Mpho Tutu earlier said.
Tutu and his wife Leah Tutu celebrated 60 years of their marriage early July in Orlando West, Soweto, southwest of Johannesburg -- his last public appearance.
