Saudi Arabia on Thursday announced strict measures to prevent the entry of Zika virus, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The measures include setting a hot-line to receive suspicious cases and provide information about the disease, the health ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the ministry asked male spouses who arrived from Zika-hit countries to take precautionary measures when having sex for the first eight weeks.
The period should be extended if certain signs of the infection start to show up upon consultation with the doctor.
The ministry said those who arrived from Zika-hit countries should seek immediate medical help if signs of infection start to develop, such as fever, rash, conjunctivitis (red eyes), muscle and joint pain, and headache within two week of their arrival.
