The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) signed here on Sunday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the management and implementation of a joint program to fight Ebola hemorrhagic fever disease in West Africa.
Under the MoU, both sides will cooperate in the fields of exchange of information and suggestions on needs to fight Ebola in West Africa, identification of available potential and all other means that could strengthen the program's efficiency, and benefitting from the technical, administrative and legal expertise of the IDB in implementing the program, the OIC said in a statement.
They will also continue consultation and cooperation and for the coordination of efforts for a better planning and implementation of the program.
The MoU further calls for endeavoring to build new partnerships with relevant local and international circles to fight this epidemic in West Africa, it added.
The steering committee of the program is composed of OIC Secretary General as Chair of the Committee, IDB President as Alternate Chair, and five members; OIC and IDB shall appoint two members each and shall agree on a renowned figure in the field of medicine to join the membership of the Committee, according to the statement.
