Hospitals and Health care centers and emergency departments across the country are urged to upgrade their preparedness to effectively cope with the sizzling heatwave and provide fast treatment to sunstroke patients .
Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Ali Al Saad, Sunday urged health and hospital directors to take all necessary precautionary measures to increase readiness in order to deal with any cases that may result from high temperatures.
Al-Saad also ordered health directors to intensify inspection campaigns on food facilities, to monitor and tighten control of street vendors, to avoid cases of other heatstroke related risks.
The ministry advised people to keep food and juices cooled in order to avoid poisoning by proliferation of bacteria that cause contamination.
The ministry also warned that food should never be left open for long periods out of fridges, urging people at the same time to quickly consume their food immediately after cooking.
It also highlighted the importance of paying attention to any signs that indicate spoilage of food including changes in appearance, color and unpleasant odor which make items unsuitable for consumption.
