Civil defense troops were able to put out a fire that erupted on the rooftop of Aswan University Hospital.
No word of casualties was reported.
Seven fire trucks rushed to the scene and the fire was controlled before extending to other parts of the building.
A burning object had been thrown at wastes kept on the rooftop of the hospital, setting it ablaze.
