Lafarge Concrete kicked off its activities under the 2011 “Health and Safety Month” during a ceremony held last week at the Jordanian Society for the Prevention of Road Accidents. The event was attended by Mohammad Dabbas, president of the society and Salem Sousou, chief executive officer of Lafarge Concrete. The Health and Safety Month, which is observed by Lafarge in June of every year, is one of Lafarge Group’s homegrown initiatives created over three years ago. During this month, Lafarge Group plants across the world acknowledge their health and safety achievements, exchange expertise and build awareness around important health and safety rules and regulations. Dabbas commended Lafarge Concrete’s efforts to protect the rights of employees and create a safe work environment for them. Sousou said: “At Lafarge, health and safety is a number one priority and we always aim for zero accidents and work injuries, and do not accept negligence when it comes to this issue.” The theme of the 2011 Health and Safety Month was “Transport Safety”, and covered numerous activities aimed to spread awareness on safety measures and regulations amongst Lafarge Concrete’s employees, clients, contractors and partners, in order to improve their safety related behaviours.
