Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of the Dubai Health Authority, inaugurated today the 21st edition of the International Pharmaceuticals & Technologies Conference & Exhibition – (DUPHAT), held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Al Qatami was accompanied by a number of local and international representatives, heads of delegations, and specialists in the pharma field.
Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, Al Qatami and dignitaries toured different areas of the exhibition and listened to detailed explanation about the most recent pharmaceutical products and technologies put on display by key players in pharmaceutical industry from the region and the world.
On the sidelines of the inauguration, Al Qatami said: "It is because of the leadership of the UAE in various fields, and the commitment of our leaders to achieve maximum levels of happiness for our people, that made the wellness and happiness of UAE citizens on top of the UAE priorities. Those priorities are under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE , Ruler of Dubai."
The DHC chief continued on saying: "Based on this great attention given to the individual’s health and safety of the community, the UAE has embraced a distinctive integrated and systematic approach towards healthcare (on both the prevention and treatment fronts). Stemming from the same attention came our national drug policy, which takes into deep consideration the highest pharmaceuticals quality, availability, and safety standards."
"We, in the UAE in general and in Dubai in particular, are aware of the importance of the pharmaceutical sciences and researches, and the significance of the pharmaceutical industry as well. We also recognize the distinctive need for our presence in this vital industry, which affects the quality of life, the safety of individuals, and the health of the community," he added.
Al Qatami concluded: "Through a very ambitious strategy, we are working hard to maintain a healthier and happier society. In fact, this is our motto and goal at the DHA that we save no effort for achieving. This conference and its accompanying exhibition, are both an amazing opportunity for all of us to learn about the latest developments and the rapid discoveries happening in the pharmaceutical world. It is also our chance to find solutions for all pressing issues and problems in this vital sector."
From his side, Dr. Ali Al Sayed, Chairman of DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition, commented saying: "DUPHAT has progressed non-stop since its inception. It has been updated with advanced smart technology, greater outreach and user-friendly facilities and ambiance that is aimed to make the experience of each delegate enriching and comfortable. "In its 21st edition, DUPHAT scientific program will cover a number of pharmaceutical workshops, Managerial skills Workshops, pharmacy professional faculty, pharmacy student poster presentations, apart from pharmacy professionals poster presentations, pharmacy student and school student poster displays. Panels constituting of distinguished pharmacy speakers will judge the pharmacy student oral presentations and for the first time an online app will be available for the public to vote for the best displayed poster," Dr. Ali Al Sayed added.
Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition, also said: "DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition has succeeded over the years to become a global forum and one of the largest pharmaceuticals and technologies events in the Middle East, which attracts local, regional, and international experts and change-makers in the pharma field."
"DUPHAT presents an important opportunity to visitors and participants as it facilitates networking, learning and sharing experiences and knowledge. This annual event provides a platform for meeting top-notch speakers and professionals, exchanging ideas and experiences, and getting updated on the recent researches and studies in the pharma field through the conference and a number of scientific activities that will take place during the 3 days," He added.
Dr. Al Madani also announced: "This year, DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition is expected to attract over 22,000 visitors and participants. The number of exhibitors reached 500 from 75 countries and the overall exhibition space reached 14,000 sqm. Moreover, 360 representatives from international pharmaceutical associations and organizations will enrich the conference with their experiences and achievements in the pharma field through thoughtful and engaging discussions."
DUPHAT conference this year will feature a rich scientific agenda that will include 144 scientific sessions and 30 workshops that will be presented by 140 speakers and specialists including deans, university professors, consultants, and seniors from prestigious pharmaceutical associations. Moreover, the conference will witness a huge participation from university students this year, as the number of student poster presentations has reached 510 posters.
DUPHAT is organized annually by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est. – member of INDEX Holding. DUPHAT conference is accredited by the Ministry of Health in the UAE and the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia, and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society – UK, in addition to a number of international scientific organizations specialized in this field.
