Head of the Administrative Prosecution Court Counselor Sameh Kamal said nine officials of the Health Affairs Directorate in Beni Suef have been referred to urgent disciplinary court over their involvement in the death of two children who were given a dehydration medicine in two town hospitals.
Two children, a one-year-old boy and an 11-month-old girl, died in Beni Suef in July of last year after taking a rehydration medication which caused them sudden seizures and they later died.
The defendants included director of the central administration of health care at the Health Ministry, director general of the child diseases program and other officials in the pharmacies of the heath ministry.
The administrative prosecution decided to inform the public prosecution to file a lawsuit against the company which produced the medicine which does not comply with medical specifications.
