President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended on Thursday celebrations of al Mawlid al Nabawi (Prophet Muhammad's birthday) anniversary.
The event is organized by the Awqaf Ministry at Al Azhar conference center.
The celebration was attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb, Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aaal, Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa and Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam.
Sisi is set to deliver a speech at the ceremony and honor eight scholars, who played a great role in the religious, cultural and parliamentary fields.
The honorees include six Egyptian scholars.
Tayyeb and Gomaa will also speak of efforts exerted to renew religious discourse and promote Islamic and human values in the society.
