President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday witnessed a cultural gathering organized by the Armed Forces at Al Galaa Theater in Cairo to stress the importance of wiping out terrorism.
The gathering was attended by the ministers of interior and defense along with top brass of the Armed Forces, Azhar Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb and Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II, said a statement by the presidency on Monday.
President Sisi asserted on Sunday that Egypt will take revenge for the martyrs who were killed in recent terrorist attacks in Sinai.
"Egypt's army is ready to die to keep Egypt alive," Sisi said.
Sisi said Lieutenant-General Osama Askar, a commander of the unified command for east Suez Canal Zone and anti-terror, is tasked with fighting terrorism in Sinai.
President Sisi announced a huge allocation of EGP 10 billion to develop Sinai.
He called on policemen to be "mindful of human rights" while doing their job.
The president offered condolences over the death of activist Shaimaa al-Sabagh during a protest in Cairo.
He assigned the interior minister to reveal the truth about the killing of Sabagh last week.
Sisi said he aims to establish strong state institutions, which are able to confront various conditions and challenges.
Egypt will remain secured with its people, army, police and judiciary, Sisi said.
He called on Egyptians to work hard and partake in the responsibility.
Egypt needs further work to increase growth rates, he said.
He underlined the importance of the role of the media in raising public awareness about real dangers and threats facing the country.
President Sisi extended thanks to a raft of friendly countries for their stances supporting Egypt.
Sisi ordered establishing a university named after late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
