Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, has conveyed his sincere appreciation to the 'Mother of the Nation', H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, on the occasion of Emirati Women's Day.
Minister Al Owais said that H.H. Sheikha Fatima commended the capabilities of Emirati women and had confidence in them, with the launch of the "UAE National Strategy for the Empowerment and Entrepreneurship of Women in the UAE 2015-2021" to provide a guiding framework for all government, federal and local institutions and civil society organisations, to develop plans and programmes to help Emirati women to be more capable and proactive, to consist with the national agenda of the UAE 2021 Vision, to be among the best countries in the world by the Golden Jubilee of the Union.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Al Owais said that the celebration of this year's theme, "Women are Partners in Giving", comes within the directives of the wise leadership to declare 2017 as the Year of Giving, a concept rooted in all Emirati women and men, instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and sustained by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The UAE's bid is a milestone in global humanitarian action after Emirati women proved to be a major partner in philanthropy, volunteering, social responsibility and contributed to the overall development process.
He stressed that Emirati women had demonstrated their competence and excellence in responsibilities, and in maintaining significant milestones as they have held many official and decision-making positions across governmental institutions in the country, and represented the state in regional and international forums in the best way.
