Iraqi artist Naseer Shamma has insisted on the importance of the solidarity between the international society and Arab countries to help Syrian refugees who were forced to leave their homes. In a press conference held the Jordanian capital Amman on Thursday, Naseer said that “the Syrian refugees are living in very difficult conditions.\" The artist visited on Wednesday the Zaatari camp, near al Marfaq (north east Jordan) to understand the situation of the refugees. He listened to the explanation of the camp’s manager about the urgent humanitarian needs in the camp. Shamma said that the conditions the refugees live in will worsen with winter approaching. The artist pointed out that swapping tents for houses is now the most urgent need. The tents only offers very little privacy or comfort, and power sources are not available. The tents will get very hot during the day, and very cold at night. Also, keeping food reserves is impossible. The refugees rely on meals offered by humanitarian associations. Shamma showed a short movie about what he saw in the camp, also supported by facts and figures. Shamma praised the important coordinating role made by the Hashemiet charity organisation to ensure the arrival of the aid in a fair way to all the refugees in Zaatari camp. He added that the needs of the refugees in the kingdom exceeds the abilities of Jordan because of its limited resources. It is an extra load for the institutions of the state. Shamma urged the Arab countries and the international community to work hard to provide an urgent support to the refugees in Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq. He also invited businessmen and big institutions to participate to this support and fulfill their human duty towards the Syrian people in this crisis.
