The Jordanian royal court released a statement today announcing that Princess Iman bint al-Hussein, the sister of King Abdullah II, has been engaged and is due to marry. The statement read: “In the presence of His Royal Hashemite Majesty King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein, Her Majesty Queen Rania al-Abdullah and Her Majesty Queen Noor [al-Hussein, on Thursday Safar 17 1434 Hijri [December 20 2012 AD], Her Royal Highness Iman bint al-Hussein was engaged to marry Mr Zeid Azmi Mirza.” The fat-ha was read at the Bab as-Salam Palace and the ceremony was attended by members of the royal family as well as members of the Mirza family. The royal court congratulated the couple on their engagement and wished them “a life full of happiness and bliss.” Princess Iman is the daughter of the later King Hussein and Queen Noor. She was born in April 1983 and has a degree in sociology from the American University located in Washington, D.C. The princess has a special interest in environmental matters.
