Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi left Riyadh Sunday, wrapping up a one-day visit to Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Cown Prince Muqrin ben Abdel Aziz and Saudi Interior Minister Mohammed ben Nayef saw off the Egyptian president and his accompanying delegation at the airport.
During the visit, Sisi held a bilateral session with Saudi King Salman ben Abdel Aziz followed by an expanded session, which was attended by the two countries' delegations, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.
The Saudi king started the session by welcoming the president and affirmed the close ties binding the two countries, added the spokesman.
He also underlined the need of promoting consultation and coordination between the two countries, according to the spokesman.
Sisi, for his part, congratulated the Saudi king for assuming power and wished him success.
The current stage requires promoting cooperation for the interest of the whole region, Sisi said.
Sisi also hailed Saudi Arabia's role in supporting the Arab and Islamic causes.
The talks also took up the latest regional developments along with ways of boosting bilateral ties in the various fields.
Regarding the situation in Syria, Sisi said that Egypt is keen on protecting Syria and its institutions from collapse.
He also underlined the need of reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis.
Talking about the situation in Libya, Sisi affirmed that efforts to combat terrorism in Libya do not run counter to Egypt's support of the UN envoy's efforts to find a solution to the Libyan crisis through dialogue.
Earlier, the Saudi king hosted at his palace in Riyadh a luncheon in honor of Sisi and his accompanying delegation.
