Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrived here Saturday to pay an official visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) and attend the 6th trilateral summit between China, Japan and the ROK.
Invited by South Korean President Park Geun-hye, Li is visiting the country for the first time as premier with hopes to forge better bilateral ties, deepen mutual trust and expand exchanges and creative cooperation so as to push forward regional peace, development and prosperity.
Li is scheduled to hold talks with Park, meet with other ROK leaders and attend activities on economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
China and the ROK are also working to implement the bilateral free trade agreement they signed in June and further improve the pact particularly with regard to financial cooperation.
During the China-Japan-ROK summit, resumed after a three-and-half-year hiatus, leaders of the three countries are expected to exchange views on trilateral cooperation as well as regional and global issues of common concern. They will also attend a business summit.
Observers say the trilateral meeting holds great significance for regional peace and stability, and cementing trilateral economic ties will benefit regional integration and global cooperation.
The China-Japan-ROK summit took place annually from 2008 to 2012.

Spotlight: China-Japan-South Korea summit to open new chapter in trilateral, regional cooperation
BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang travels to Seoul this weekend for an official visit to South Korea and the first leaders' meeting of the top three economies in East Asia after a three-year hiatus.
Given the economic heft of China, Japan and South Korea, observers say, the upcoming summit is set to inject a badly needed dose of political impetus into their cooperation and fresh vigor into regional development.
