Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal left Egypt on Thursday en route to Switzerland via Rome to attend the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meetings due to open on Monday.
Abdel Aal will attend meetings of the Arab and African parliamentary groups and deliver a speech during the main session.
Abdel Aal will post the IPU on a report on the 150th anniversary of establishing the parliament in Egypt.
More than 700 MPs from 138 states will attend the four-day IPU meetings.
The IPU meetings are to address human rights abuses as precursors of conflict as well as the freedom of women to participate in political processes fully, safely and without interference and building partnerships between men and women to achieve this objective
The talks will also tackle reports of the Standing Committees on Peace and International Security; Sustainable Development, Finance and Trade; and on United Nations Affairs.
