As the 2012 Olympics have now officially ended, London is getting ready to welcome the 2012 Paralympics Games which will take place between August 29 and September 9. Present at the Games are also two Palestinian athletes, Mohammed Fannouna for the men’s long jump race and Khamis Zaqout for the men’s shot putt. Both athletes, living in Gaza, have overcome a great many obstacles in order to be able to compete in London’s games and are determined to break their own records. On the occasion of their arrival, the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, Manuel Hassassian, and MP Jeremy Corbyn will welcome them at the Houses of Parliament, Portcullis House, on Monday evening, 3rd September, under the auspices of the Palestinian Mission.
