President Barack Obama welcomed British Crown Prince Charles to the White House on Thursday, The USA Today reported.
"I think it's fair to say that the American people are quite fond of the Royal Family," Obama told Charles.
"That's awfully nice to know," Charles replied.
"They like them much better than they like their own politicians," Obama continued.
"I don't believe that," the prince responded before chatting about his visit to Mount Vernon on Wednesday.
The two men did not make formal comments to reporters.
The White House schedule said he and the prince planned to discuss topics such as climate change, creating opportunities for young people and encouraging corporate social responsibility.
The four-day trip to the United States by Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall is also designed to highlight the American-British alliance.
Earlier on Thursday, Charles and wife Camilla visited a school for immigrant students and toured a Washington area veterans home. The Royal Couple has also seen the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King. Jr., Memorial, the National Archives, and the Shakespeare Theater Company.
