An Egyptian court ruled Tuesday to release the sons of former President Hosni Mubarak, Alaa and Gamal, in the case of stock exchange manipulation, official news agency MENA reported. While temporarily released in this case, they are still detained pending investigations on charges of profiteering and looting funds set for the presidential palace\' maintenance, state- run al-Ahram online quoted prosecuror-general\'s assistant Hassan Yassin as saying. On Monday, a criminal court ruled to temporarily release the two brothers on financial corruption charges. Mubarak himself is currently being tried over responsibility for killing protesters in the 2011 upheaval. His trial was postponed to July 6 on Monday. The former president was sentenced to life imprisonment in June 2012 for his involvement in killing protesters, but he and his interior minister Habib al-Adl appealed the verdicts against them. On Jan. 13, the Court of Cassation accepted their appeals and ordered to retry the case. Mubarak ruled Egypt for nearly three decades and was toppled by nationwide protests in January 2011.
