The Kingdom of Morocco, on the sixth of November, celebrates the peaceful Green March towards the southern provinces with the participation of hundreds of thousands of citizens from various provinces based on their beliefs in performing the voluntary duty.
Moroccan Ambassador to Bahrain, Ahmed Rashid Khutabi, told Bahrain News Agency (BNA) that the event reflects the continuity of the Moroccan people's response to the call of the march launched 42 years ago following the announcement of the late HM King Hassan II.
The ambassador said the Green March imposed the peaceful solution and Spain's acceptance to sit at the negotiations table that produced the Madrid Accord on 14 November 1975 and the withdrawal of Spanish troops from the city of Laayoune.
He explained that the state has strengthened sovereignty and national unity, as well as addressing separatist calls, it also provided the requirements for a decent living for citizens, established social, economic and cultural institutions and land, air and sea transportation networks.
He pointed out the development process achieved in various fields thanks to the strategic vision of HM King Mohammed VI, which will strengthen the Moroccan standing at the African level.
He highlighted Morocco's commitment to ending the imposed regional conflict through the autonomy initiative submitted by Morocco in April 2007, in preparation for a final political solution within the United Nations framework.
He expressed appreciation of Arab and friendly countries’ supportive stances, hailing the solid longstanding relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain and its promotion to Morocco’s sovereignty in regional and international forums, including the 72nd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
